In 2024, UNITAR scaled transformative solutions for sustainable prosperity, equipping individuals and institutions with practical tools to drive inclusive economic growth, food security, climate resilience and entrepreneurship.

These collective efforts reflect the Institute’s commitment to inclusive, localized and scalable pathways to sustainable economic and social development.

Empowering Women and Youth as Agents of Change

Over 2,000 women from 35 African countries graduated from the ‘Fostering the Future of Business in Africa’ programme, gaining skills in leadership, finance and digital marketing. In Sudan, amid conflict, livelihood training helped more than 250 participants create food security-focused businesses. Additionally, 286 young entrepreneurs in Egypt, Iraq and Lebanon received agribusiness training tailored to local food systems.

Bridging Food, Technology and Culture in Lebanon

Building Capacity for Food Security and Trade

Partnerships with FAO empowered 63 Latin American officials in trade policy, with 98 per cent satisfaction. The third Near East and North Africa (NENA) trade programme attracted 400 applicants from Arabic-speaking countries, advancing regional cooperation on food systems and economic security.

Achieving SDG 8 Through a Dedicated Platform for Global Engagement

In 2024, the UNITAR Prosperity Alliance was launched at Shanghai Climate Week to advance sustainable and inclusive economic development. Through tailored capacity-building initiatives, the Prosperity Alliance equips businesses, economic centers, governments and academic institutions across social and economic development, frontier technologies, trade and green energy finance with expertise and resources to lead transformative change.
